With the popularity of scrapbooking comes the do-it-yourself invitation. But is it really a savings in either time or money? The couple needs to know that it might NOT be their best choice to make their own invitations. In addition to a possible less-than-favorable first impression for guests, there are expenses they may not realize. The following is a list of things that need to be considered:
wInk cartridges (extras may be needed at an average cost of approximately $25).
wPaper stock (this includes extra stock for setup, smudges that sometimes happen when the ink isn't dry and redoing invitations that are too light when the ink cartridge runs low).
wCutting fee (if the stock is the wrong size, there may be a cutting fee plus the possibility of an incorrect cut).
wEnvelopes (will they match the invitation stock or fit the invitation).
wFonts (if the font isn't available on their computer, it will be necessary to buy one.
wTime (time is valuable in the months leading up to a wedding or special event).

Deborah, I just wanted to thank you for all your help with our daughter's wedding invitations. They arrived yesterday and were beautiful! I have to admit I was a little nervous doing this online but after talking with you on the phone, I felt reassured with your knowledge, interest, and concern for getting it done "perfect". My daughter and I will pass your name on in the "Lone Star State". Thanks, again...we appreciate you!!!
"In the beginning I wanted to make them myself, thinking I'd be saving money. But soon I realized that I don't have the time or the creativity to make the ones I'd like."

"Making my wedding invitations was very time consuming. If it wasn't for my entire family helping me, I would never have finished them."

I had a client who had a friend make her invitations as a gift/favor. The lines were all wrong, the alignment was wrong - in the end, she sent the invitation to that person but came to me to have professionally set-up invitations to send to everybody else.
I felt so bad for her but relieved that she didn't send out the original invitations -
